Matriarch 0.05 Update


CHANGELOG 0.05

1. Added in size five

2. Fixed some bug. Probably introduced some new bugs too.

3. Added in ability to buy multiples of certain shop items.

4. Added in more stats to the lounge "manage" section.

5. Changed default music to jazz.

6. Adjusted economy.

Development notes:

1. Added size five. I think we have one more size before I have to come up with the immobile gameplay loop. I'm still trying to think of how to go about this but at the moment I'm thinking this is where we'll dive into the social aspects. You'll be "stuck" on the main floor, so why not talk to the other girls?

2. Nothing exciting here, just keeping the game from crashing when you close a menu too fast.

3. It was requested the I add a way to buy stacks of items. I was not able to implement this across the board since some items cost increases with each purchase (I'm sure this could be done with fancy math but I'm bad at even basic math), but some items with a flat cost will now let you choose how many you want to buy.

4. Another request, people wanted to see their milk production and capacity, so I threw some stats in the management panel.

5. Sooo, do ya like jazz? The nightcore music was just too abrupt so I went with something smoother.

6. We're in what I call the "milk meta" right now, where the best way to make money is to stack milk production and capacity items and just milk yourself all day. While I'm glad milking is a viable strategy, I would like everything to be more or less balanced so you can do anything. I did an initial round of number squishes and rebalances. Hopefully things aren't too out of wack now. Please give feedback if you think things move too slow or too fast now.

Further plans and thoughts: Like I said above, we're nearing the point where the player character will be too big to move (honestly, we're probably past that already) so I'm going to have to start working on the "immobile hub" for lack of a better name. Up until now the gameplay loop has been just making money in various ways and spending that money so you can get bigger. Now that you're not able to go advertise or run drinks, I need to think of a way for the player to interact with customers and what not all from one room. I have a few ideas of who to go about this, so we'll see where I land. Next up is size six of nine so that's more renders to do but aside from that I think I will start expanding on the skeleton systems I put in a while back for interactions with other dancers. I'm seeing more and more requests for story to be added in, the plan was to finish all of the player sizes and system, then move on to story and interactions. I think that is still the plan but doesn't hurt to lay out more groundwork for that. I also realllly want to rework saving. I did a very sloppy implementation of saves when I added it in, so I would like to fix that. I was also requested to add in a gallery so you can see all of the past sizes. That was added to the list and should be a fairly simple implementation so hopefully I'll get that in on the next patch.

So I've played around a bit... and the fundemental problem is that it's just not worth the time investment to dance/bottle service/ptomote. You can still pretty quickly scale up your milk production/capacity and get exponential growth without too much effort, because thing is? You can only get so pregnant in this game but you can get (almost) infinitely productive milk wise... and worse? If you get into the milk loop it's hard to get out because you need 2x 3x 4x or even more capacity (because dances don't give any? money if you leak) so that you can do other activities without spilling, but if you're in deep that takes a lot of capacity.

You get a bit money doing whatever, then you get as much production as needed to hit cap, then you just keep going, spreading your money between production and capacity (because if you don't have enough capacity you don't make more money from extra production) but even when I was at max size I was getting like $100 per dance which is pennies compared to my milk production and this is at full size too. I think you may either need to put a hard cap on MP and MC (which sounds less fun but might be necessary) or you really start to up the amount of money dancing gives you as your belly size increases.

Because as it stands? I increase my belly size because I want to have larger pregnancies and see the sprites for it. Not because it makes me any appreciable amount of money. 

(Side note. If you save/load you get your money but not your upgrades)
(Second side note. If you're going to keep allowing us to up the number of purchases make that number something we can input instead of slowly raise would be great)

Glad to see the update... and yeah the "milk meta" was real. Didn't necessarily want to point it out because my efficiency minded brain like number go brrr, but probably for the best it got patched. I'll give me thoughts on the new update soonish. What sort of feedback on the new version are you looking for?

haha nobody pointed it out but any time I'd do tests I would quickly default to just spamming milk mods so it was very obvious. 

I'm just looking to see if people think the new prices and rewards of things make things too fast or slow. I don't want the game to be a slog and I don't want people to be forced to do one thing over and over since it's "the best". Also if there are any pain points in playing so I can look at those systems. Thanks!
